US Keep Our Promises to Haiti!
Action of the Month—July/August 2012

The USA has not kept its promises to Haiti.

Haiti needs our help!
Haiti was devastated by the January 2010 earthquake. More than two years later, over two thirds of the labor force is unemployed, 54% of Haitians live on less than $1 a day

What the USA did - and didn’t do
After the 2010 earthquake, the USA committed $939.8 million in recovery funding. We’ve only given 19 percent of this as of March 2012 (latest figures available).

Aid we did give often doesn’t work
Too much of our aid is given to rich US corporations, with only a part ever reaching Haitians.
Some money is given to nonprofits, but is often poorly tracked.

What we need to do
We should keep our promise by end of 2012 - in ways benefit the people who need it most - directly helping local communities and individuals in Haiti, bypassing government bureaucracy and corruption.

Please sign the petition for the USA to keep its promise to the Haitian people.
